Children’s Church and Nursery:

Our Children’s Church and Nursery are temporarily suspended. Children are asked to sit with their parents. The Nursery is available for nursing mothers and diaper changes. Children’s activity pages are located on the back table.

Seekers Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:10 am in the Fellowship Hall. (Will resume in September)

Thursday Night Bible Study at 7 pm via Zoom. If you would like to participate let us know and we will send you the email link.

 

Prayer Meeting

Thursday 11:45 am to 12:45 am via Zoom. If you would like to participate let us know and we will send you the email link.

 

Youth Group takes place on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and is for students in 6th thru 12th grade. Sign up to provide a meal for the youth group (about 8 people) on the table in back.

 

There will be a Quarterly Church Business Meeting on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 12 pm.

GOOD NEWS! In person Worship resumes June 21, 2020 at 10:30 am

We are excited to once again be gathering in person as a church family. Please read the following plan and policies for our regathering.

KENMORE COMMUNITY CHURCH

REGATHERING PLAN

Since King County is now in Phase 2 of its reopening plan, we have the green light to regather for in person worship services at 25% of our capacity which is 63 people at a time. Our first worship service will be June 21, 2020.

As you know, our church is committed to developing maturing followers of Jesus Christ who are committed, growing, serving, and sharing. A maturing follower of Jesus Christ is devoted to loving God with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving their neighbor as themselves. Our reopening plan must take those values into consideration. We are aware that people are watching to see how we care for public health and safety as we regather in our building. We will demonstrate that our rights to gather and worship are not more important to us than the health and safety of our neighbors.

Therefore, we have established the following policies and procedures for the first few months as we regather. These policies and procedures are similar to those that all churches are being asked to follow as spelled out by the Washington Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control.

  1. Capacity: In Phase 2, we are permitted to have 63 people in worship at one time which is 25% of our capacity. Unfortunately, anyone wanting to enter the building after 63 attendees have arrived, will be informed they may not enter. If we find that more than 63 people are wanting to attend each week, we will have two services, one at 9 am and one at 10:30 am.
  2. Safe Distancing: We will facilitate and maintain a minimum six-foot separation between all persons. This will require moving the pews further apart and blocking off the use of some of them. Members of the same household or social bubble should sit together. We will also need to keep people moving through the lobby so that it does not become a choke point. Words of greeting and waves will be used instead of handshakes and hugs.
  3. Face Coverings: Each person in attendance shall wear a suitable face covering while on the premises for worship (before, during, and after the service). Face coverings will be provided for anyone not able to bring their own.

 

  1. Screening: People should evaluate their health before choosing to attend the service. If you are exhibiting any signs of sickness (fever, cough, achiness, upset stomach, etc.) you are asked to stay home. If you have been diagnosed with Covid 19 or have been exposed to someone who has recently been diagnosed with Covid 19 you are asked to stay home until medically cleared.
  2. Attendance: We will keep a record of attendance for each service. This record will be maintained for a number of weeks in case the need arises for us to do contact tracing. Regular attendees will be noted as they enter the building. Those for whom we have no contact information will be asked to provide their name and phone number or email address.
  3. Personal Hygiene: Attendees will be encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly after using the rest room and to make use of the hand sanitizing stations located throughout the church building.
  4. Supervisor: We will designate at least one COVID-19 supervisor for each gathering to monitor the safety plan. The COVID-19 Supervisor will report to the Pastor.
  5. Nursery: We will not have a nursery during Phase 2 due to the tight quarters and limited volunteer staff. The nursery will be available for nursing mothers and changing babies.
  6. Children’s Ministry: We will not have separate programs for children during Phase 2 due to the difficulty children have maintaining social-distancing practices. Children are urged to attend and must sit with parents or guardians.
  7. Singing: Singing is permitted (with the exception of a choir). Face coverings must remain on while singing.
  8. Distribution of Materials: Bulletins will be available on a table for attendees to pick up at the back of the sanctuary.
  9. Collection of Connection Cards and Offerings: Collections will be made at the existing stationary boxes on the back wall and baskets placed on the communion table. We will not pass offering bags or collect materials by passing them. We will continue to encourage online giving and mail in giving.
  10. Communion: While in Phases 2 and 3, we will use individually wrapped, pre-packaged communion supplies. Gloved helpers will be available to assist those who have difficulty opening the packages.
  11. Restrooms: Access will be limited to no more than 2 people at a time.
  12. After-Service Treats: Until we are in Phase 4, after-service treats will not be provided.
  13. Video Taping: We will continue to video tape the worship music and sermon and post them on our website each week so that those who are unable to attend in person can still enjoy the service online.
  14. Cleaning: The entire facility will continue to be cleaned thoroughly each week and additional cleaning of high touch areas will take place during every gathering.
  15. Signage: Signs will be placed throughout the church building informing attendees of the various elements of this plan. A sign will be placed on the front door explaining the various expectations and attendance limits.

KCC Youtube Channel Established

We have established a YouTube channel for the church where we will be uploading videos of the worship team and Pastor Mark’s Sermons.  You go to YouTube.com and once the page opens type “Kenmore Community Church” in the search box.  Our channel is identified by the turquoise heart and cross logo against a tan background.

“Praise & Prayers Email” for 03 16 20

The LORD is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.

 

  1. Praise God that He is sovereign and in control of all things. Praise Him for His infinite wisdom. Praise Him for His perfect love. Praise Him for His unlimited power. Praise Him as “I Am” (the God who exists eternally, independently, and unchanging). Praise Him for His holiness, compassion, grace, mercy, justice, forgiveness, faithfulness, patience, healing power, and personal concern for each one of us. Praise Him for His promises. Praise Him as the creator of the universe and our creator. Praise Him for the New Covenant and that our salvation is by grace through faith and not based on our own works. Praise Him for exchanging our sin for the righteousness of Christ.

 

  1. Pray for all those affected by the Covid 19 virus. Pray for healing for those who are sick. Pray for God’s comfort for those who have lost loved ones. Pray for the first responders, doctors, and nurses who are providing care for those who have contracted the virus. Pray for children who are out of school and their parents who are having to find child care. Pray for the businesses, non-profits, and churches who are being impacted by the restrictions on public gatherings. Pray that people would turn to God and put their faith and trust in Christ and find the peace that only He can provide.

 

  1. Pray for Gwen B. who is Maribeth W’s sister. Pray for her recovery from breast cancer surgery last week. Pray also for Maribeth’s brother Steve who is on hospice care.

 

  1. Pray that we would love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Pray that we would love our neighbors as ourselves. Pray that we would hunger and thirst for righteousness. Pray that we would spend time daily reading God’s Word and in prayer. Pray that we would leave the fingerprints of the kingdom of God upon the people we interact with each day. Pray that we would become more and more like Jesus. Pray that we would be filled with the Spirit and become more like Jesus every day in our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

 

  1. Kim S. Would like prayer for the Lord to bring her a new tenant. Please continue to pray for Holli to find the Lord.

 

  1. Karen D. would like continued prayer for her nephew Dan. Dan is in the hospital battling a sepsis infection.

 

  1. Cindy B. would like prayer for her dad, Hank, who just had knee surgery and is having a very hard time with extreme pain.

 

  1. Irma C. would like prayer for her daughter Heidi. She has cancer in her right eye. Needs healing, she begins radiation treatments next week.

 

  1. Pray for the Mamula family who experienced a garage fire on Sunday, March 8th. Pray for the insurance and restoration process to go smoothly. Pray that Bryan’s business will not suffer. Praise God no one was hurt by the fire.

 

  1. Michael Long recently passed away. Pray for Michael’s family as they grieve his death.

 

  1. Matt I. would like prayer for lifelong, steadfast commitment to the Lord, to have his ears open to the Word of the Lord. To do it with joy and enthusiasm, to stay focused on the Lord.

 

  1. Pray for Dusty Riemersma as he leads our youth ministry. Pray for the spiritual growth of the youth group and that more students could be reached. Pray for Dusty as he seeks to establish a skype or zoom meeting weekly with the youth group over the next few weeks.

 

  1. Pray for all our missionaries: the Wilkinson’s in the Philippines, the Tillman’s in the Philippines, the Beck’s in Austria, the Green’s in South America, Ian Smith in Japan, The Millar’s (visiting churches and wrapping up over 30 years of full time missionary service), and Joshua Vijayakumar in India.
  2. Pray for the local and national ministries we support: Converge Northwest (Nate & Amy Hettinga), Converge (Scott and Lisa Ridout), Care Net Pregnancy Center in Kenmore, Lake Retreat & Adelphia Discipleship School, Camp Big Horn, the Union Gospel Mission, and the Gideons (Bible distribution blitz coming up in the next few months)

 

  1. The worship service Pastor Mark and Dusty perform at Kenmore Senior Living on Mondays has been suspended until the Coronavirus outbreak is under control. Pray for the believers at Kenmore Senior Living to be an encouragement to their neighbors.

 

  1. Pray that we would see a minimum of 10 new believers and baptisms at KCC this year.

 

  1. Pray for David S., Mary Beth Rogers’ brother. Pray for God’s healing of infection in the bones in his foot. His long term disability has been approved. He will have foot reconstruction surgery soon and he will have a six to twelve month recovery period.

 

  1. Pray for our sister church, Adventure Church in Duvall. Their 100 year old sanctuary was destroyed by fire this morning. Pray for the congregation as they figure out where to meet in the short term.

 

  1. Pray that we will seek and find was be a blessing to our neighbors and community during this anxious and unsettling time. (If you have ideas to share regarding ways you have been blessing your neighbors and community share them with us)

 

  1. Mary Ann M. asks us to pray for her nephew who recently had heart surgery in Minn.

We will be having an Easter Egg Hunt for the children after our worship service on April 12th and need donations of candy and small toys for the eggs. If you would be willing to donate items please bring them to church over the next month and put them in the church office. Make sure the candy items are individually wrapped. We have plenty of plastic eggs.

KCC Worship Service and Actitivities Temporarily Suspended (March 12, 2020)

Due to the continuing concern over the spread of the Covid 19 virus, the elders and I have decided to suspend the worship service and all church gatherings for the time being. As you know, many in our congregation fall into the high risk category should they become infected with the virus. Therefore, we feel it is prudent and the loving thing to do at this time. I will provide periodic updates as to the status of the church worship service and activities.

 

In the meantime, the worship team and I will meet to record and video tape services and upload them to the web via our website, you tube, and facebook. Our hope is to quickly be able to live stream a service with no audience so that you can enjoy the service from your home.

 

The elders and I are working on a plan to keep our church connected via phone, email, and text. If you need help with anything, please call the church office and let us know. I will keep regular office hours and be available for pastoral care and counsel so please feel free to call or email. Karen Ceurvorst will also be working her regular hours and will be sending out the weekly praise and prayer list so you can call in or email your praises and prayer requests to her at info@kenmorechurch.org.

 

The church is not a building, it is you and me living out our faith on a daily basis, sharing the good news of Jesus with those we interact with, and leaving the fingerprints of the kingdom of God on the lives of others. So I encourage you to reach out to your neighbors and fellow church attendees and seek some way to be a blessing to them during these uneasy times. In addition, I encourage you to continue to read the Word of God daily and spend time in prayer for all those affected by the virus. Always remember that we are to walk in faith not in fear.

Our Response and Planning in Light of the Covid 19 Virus

Pastor Mark, the elders, and our church leaders have created the following response and plan to prevent the spread of colds and viruses at church gatherings.

 

  1. We ask you to pray for the families who have experienced the death of a loved one due to the Covid 19 virus. Pray for the healing of those who have contracted the virsus. Pray also for the first responders who are caring for the people who come down with the virus. Pray for an end to the virus. Remember that as followers of Jesus Christ we are to walk by faith and not by fear.

 

  1. We ask that anyone who has cold or flu like symptoms stay home until you have recovered. Pastor Mark’s sermons are recorded each Sunday and posted on the church’s website on Monday mornings so you can listen to the messages online. Giving to the church can also be done online through our website or through your bank’s online bill paying procedure.

 

  1. For the next few months we are asking people at church to greet one another with smiles and waves rather than hugs and handshakes.

 

  1. For the next few months we are planning to do our after service fellowship and treats a little differently. Anne Schukar will be purchasing individually sealed snacks which will be prepared and cleaned up by those regularly scheduled to provide the coffee fellowship each Sunday. The snacks will be on the counter in the church kitchen for those scheduled each week to arrange on trays and put out.

 

  1. For the next few months we are planning to do our communion service on the first Sunday of the month a little differently. More details about this will be shared on the first Sunday in April.

 

  1. Please let us know if you become sick with a virus or the flu and need help with groceries or meals. We will be happy to help you secure the items you need.

 

  1. As a general rule we encourage you to use common sense and follow the CDC’s guidelines to prevent contracting or passing on viruses.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

We are in need of someone to serve as our Welcoming Ministry Coordinator, overseeing our greeters and ushers.   We are also in need of additional greeters and ushers. If you are interested, please speak to one of the elders or Pastor Mark.
